Tallahassee Sacred Music Conference 2017

The TSMC is a biennial, ecumenical event held in oddnumbered years since 2005. Its goal is to promote mutual understanding in the practice and theology of music in worship. It brings musicians, clergy, and congregants together from across the United States for seminars, discussion forums, and masterclasses devoted to sacred music. Concerts, hymn festivals and worship services provide both conferees and the public a broad and representative spectrum of music and worship.

Faculty members from past conferences include Marva Dawn, André Thomas, John Ferguson, Patrick Evans, Bruce Neswick, John Thornburg, Paul Westermeyer, Don Saliers, and many others. The mission of the American Guild of Organists is to enrich lives through organ and choral music. To achieve this, members of the AGO encourage excellence in the performance of organ and choral music; inspire, educate, and offer certification for organists and choral conductors; provide networking, fellowship, and mutual support; nurture future generations of organists; promote the organ in its historic and evolving roles; engage wider audiences with organ and choral music. The local chapter of the AGO includes the city of Tallahassee and the Big Bend region of northern Florida. Its members meet regularly for presentations, workshops, and organ recitals at local churches.

The TSMC and the January Jubilee are co-sponsored and supported by the Church Music Institute. CMI offers educational workshops, resources, and research in the field of church music. With headquarters in Dallas, TX, CMI serves a national constituency.
