Rev. Kathryn Johnson explores the Artistic Language of Hildegard von Bingen.
Kathryn Johnson is an ordained United Methodist Minister of Music, having served at churches in the Pacific Northwest, Northwest Indiana, and North Texas. Though Methodist by education (S.M.U.) and ordination and Lutheran trained (Valparaiso University), she has been appointed, through her commitment to ecumenism and interfaith relations, as Organist and/or Minister of Music in not only Methodist congregations but also Presbyterian, Lutheran, and Reform Jewish congregations, mostly in the Dallas area. These appointments have included Northaven, University Park, and St. Stephen United Methodist Churches, Temple Emanu-El Reform Jewish Synagogue, Christ the Servant Lutheran and West Plano Presbyterian Churches. Currently she is, as she puts it, “re-tired and re-tread!” and serving churches in a consultative capacity either in music and worship or as a substitute organist. Her interests have increasingly found their focus in searching for ways to energize the proclamation of the Gospel by bringing together various arts from differing periods of history in conjunction with modern expressions to enrich and enliven both the experience of music and art in the church and, even more, the worship experience itself, which those arts powerfully serve.
This event is online only. If you cannot attend, the event is recorded for future viewing by registered attendees. Registration closes Friday, April 21 at noon.
