Workshops
Each year, CMI hosts workshops across the country led by clergy and musicians. The typical workshop has 100+ attendees, a mix of clergy, musicians and laypersons with topics ranging from current research in worship and music to planning Sunday worship to choral techniques and organ repertoire for liturgical use.
Festivals
CMI Festivals of Music are showcase events featured every two to three years in various cities. A celebration of music of the Christian faith, multiple choirs gather to perform under the direction of well-known guest conductors and composers. Recent Festivals of Music were held in Charlotte, NC, Darien, CT and Dallas, TX. The 2016 festival in Dallas featured a 460-voice choir, brass, and the Lay Family organ in the magnificent Meyerson Symphony Center in downtown Dallas. Led by conductor and composer, Bob Chilcott, choirs from twenty-six churches in North and East Texas joined with voices in the congregation in the singing of hymns that continue to inspire generations of Christians. Read about the Festival in the February 2017 issue of The American Organist.
Choral Sings
In conjunction with selected workshops, CMI hosts a Choral Sing Through the Church Year. Open to all choral directors and singers, Choral Sings are inspiring repertoire sessions that cover all liturgical seasons in the church year.
