We welcome Mark Lawson, president of ECS Publishing Group that includes E.C. Schirmer, MorningStar Music, Galaxy Music, and Canticle Distributing.  Mark will unpack those knotty copyright questions to help us use music ethically and legally.

Mark W. Lawson is the President of ECS Publishing Group, parent company for E.C. Schirmer, Galaxy Music Corporation, MorningStar Music Publishers and the ARSIS Audio recording label. Mr. Lawson has been active in developing digital delivery methods, strategizing about the development of music web-sites, and has been involved in numerous recording projects. As a publisher, he enjoys working with both new as well as established composers. He is actively involved in the Music Publishers Association, and the Church Music Publishers Association. Mr. Lawson has contributed written material to numerous music periodicals and books over the last 20 years.

Mr. Lawson was conductor of The Gateway Ringers, an auditioned community handbell group, from 1997-2003. He has conducted numerous youth choir and handbell festivals in several states, and has been responsible for developing several important choral series in his capacity at MorningStar. Mr. Lawson has a degree in Music Education from Southwest Baptist University, and a Masters of Church Music degree from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.
